Michael W. Wells
President

Mike Wells serves as President of REI Investments, Inc., the manager of REI Real Estate Services, LLC. Over the past 25 years Mr. Wells has been involved in a number of significant real estate projects including the JW Marriott Hotel, Marriott Place, Circle City Mall, Wellpoint Operation Center, Emmis Communications Headquarters and the Indianapolis Marriott Hotel, all in downtown Indianapolis. Currently, REI has a number of hotels and multi-family projects under development in Carmel, Nashville, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. REI has 18 operating hotels located in 5 states totaling 4,000 rooms.

In addition to his development activities, Mr. Wells manages the portfolio of real estate investments owned by REI Real Estate Partnership. These investments include 300 North Meridian in downtown Indianapolis, several parking garages and numerous suburban office buildings. REI currently has over $200 million of development projects ongoing.

Prior to his career with REI, Mr. Wells was a practicing attorney in Indianapolis, specializing in the real estate and tax-exempt financing area.

Mr. Wells graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law – Indiana University and received a B.S. from Purdue University in Interdisciplinary Engineering. Community activities include serving on the board of the Purdue Research Foundation, Indiana Chamber, Indianapolis Zoo, Crossroads of America of the Boy Scouts Foundation, Volunteers of American Real Estate Committee, Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, YMCA Association Trustee, Indiana Chamber Foundation and the Robert H. McKinney School of Law Board of Visitors. Mr. Wells is an alumnus of the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership program.

Jeffrey Sporleder
Chief Financial Officer

Jeff Sporleder is Chief Financial Officer for REI Real Estate Services, LLC. Inherently, the CFO is responsible for providing solutions while using existing knowledge, experience, and available resources to provide the financial information and analysis necessary to make sound business decisions that maximize the return on the investment for customers and owners. In this capacity, Jeff has direct responsibility for corporate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis; management and investment of cash flow; coordination and preparation of audited financial statements and tax returns; strategic tax and business planning; and interaction with shareholders, partners, and the Board of Directors.

In addition, Jeff actively oversees insurance risk management, banking relationships, human resources, and information systems. Dating back to 1985, he has more than 35 years of accounting experience, including five years in auditing with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

Jeff received a BS in Accounting with Distinction from Indiana University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Indiana and a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also an IU Real Estate Advisory Board Member.

Jeff has been active in the United Way of Central Indiana Hamilton County Day of Caring. He is also an active member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and resides on its Board of Elders.

 

Tina Shute
Vice President of Asset and Property Management

Tina is our Vice President of Asset and Property Management. In her role as Asset Manager, Tina is responsible for managing the value of the portfolio of properties owned by REI. As part of her duties, she oversees strategic planning, investment analysis, and operation and marketability analysis, as well as positioning the properties in the marketplace in accordance with market trends and conditions. In her role as Vice President of Property Management, Tina oversees our Property Management team. In this role, she works with the team to help them reach their full potential and inspires growth both personally and professionally. REI understands the importance of developing team members and equipping them with the tools needed to meet key goals and objectives. We believe the greatest growth and success happens when both the teams’ goals and objectives align with their client’s goals and objectives. Beyond guiding the management team, Tina is committed to supporting local causes and the community in which we serve. REI has corporate offices in Indianapolis and Carmel. REI currently manages over 2 million square feet of space commercial real estate in the Greater Indianapolis area.

 

Tina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in Indianapolis. She is a Certified Property Manager and serves as a member of IREM. She is an active member of Synergize and is passionate about mentoring young people as they explore their strengths and passions and how to apply that in the workforce.

Michael D. Napariu, CCIM, CPA (inactive)
Senior Vice President of Sales & Leasing

Mike knows a good real estate deal when he sees it. He has extensive experience in all facets of commercial brokerage including landlord representation and leasing, tenant representation, and corporate services. He’s the exclusive leasing agent for the properties owned by REI Investments, including 300 North Meridian Street, Meridian Crossing, and 11711 North Pennsylvania Street. He also works as the exclusive leasing agent for some of our clients, including such prominent Indianapolis properties as the Ascension Saint Vincent Campus, Methodist Professional Center, and the USTA Midwest Headquarters. His in-depth market knowledge, financial expertise and significant experience allow him to provide his clients the most current information to guide their real estate decisions. Mike has completed transactions for clients throughout the United States (Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, Charlotte & Cincinnati) and even Europe.

The trick is turning good deals into great ones. That’s where Mike really shines: at REI, he’s “exclusively” completed over 1,059 sale and lease transactions totaling over $625 million in value and encompassing more than 7.6 million square feet of commercial space.

Prior to joining REI, Mike spent several years with Indianapolis Power & Light, where he held several financial positions before working as a consultant for Economic Development. In this position, he worked with prospective and existing Indianapolis companies, helping them locate

the property and resources needed for expansion. In his four years in that position, the companies Mike worked with made over $40 million of Capital investment.

Education

Mike is a graduate of Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Indiana, as well as a CCIM Designee. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Ryan Wells
Asset Manager/Director of Development

Ryan Wells serves as Asset Manager and Director of Development of REI Real Estate Services, LLC. In his role as Asset Manager he is responsible for the oversight of strategic planning, investment analysis, operation and marketing analysis, positioning of properties in the marketplace in accordance with market trends and conditions, understanding the owner’s objectives of their real estate plans and strategizing on the best approaches to maximizing the investment return of real estate assets.

As the Director of Development Ryan duties involve leading the Development Team with managing multiple phases of the real estate development process. He participates in all aspects of development including site selection, due diligence exploration, financial analysis, budgeting, contract negotiation, development consultant management, site acquisition, investment package creation, coordination of the permitting process, execution of the construction documents, and general contractor management.

Ryan has over a decade of real estate and banking experience. Prior to joining REI he was involved in the commercial real estate and banking industries in Chicago. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelors of Science in Management he worked as a commercial real estate appraiser. In his capacity as an appraiser, he completed appraisals on a variety of property types including land, industrial, office, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, and multi-family properties. More recently he worked in the banking industry with a focus on commercial real estate. Working on the origination side of the business he financed numerous land developments, retail centers, multi-family properties, office buildings, and condominium conversions. As the economy slipped into “the Great Recession” Ryan found a niche restructuring and working out distressed debt. Prior to joining REI, he spent the previous six years working out problem assets in the banking industry and most recently for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Ryan is an Eagle Scout and has received the Muller Award of Achievement from the Boy Scouts of America.

Lanny Sledge
Corporate Controller

Lanny oversees the accounting, reporting and analysis functions related to development entities, ownership and upper tier entities as well as REI Real Estate Services, LLC as a company. Lanny has direct responsibility for the human resources, payroll and 3rd party information technology departments of the company. Lanny is also heavily involved with insurance risk management, cash management, and tax and business planning. Lanny has over 25 years experience in all forms of real estate accounting and has been with REI since he graduated college. Lanny graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Franklin College.

Christine Woosley
Partnership Controller

Christine is the partnership controller and is responsible for the accounting operations of the company’s commercial real estate portfolio as well as third party property management contracts. Christine has over twenty years’ experience with eleven years specialized in real estate accounting and thirteen years in public accounting with a focus on real estate and tax. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University at Indianapolis. Christine is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Indiana and a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
